Harbour Authority
The Harbour is controlled by the
Department of Sea Fisheries. The Marinas are controlled by Gordons
Bay Yacht Club.
Approach & Radio Procedure
Visiting yachts are requested to
contact GBYC to ensure a mooring or marina before departing for
Gordon's Bay with the following information: number of crew,
Skipper's name, destination and ETA and size of yacht.
If arriving by night visiting
yachts may moor overnight at the jetty.
It is unadvisable to enter at low
tide if your yacht has a draught of 1.8m or more but one can
anchor and wait for half of full tide on the Southern side of the
harbour.
Club Facilities &
Regulations
The Gordon's Bay Yacht Club has
marinas in the Harbour and the keys for the security gate, club
showers and toilets, can be obtained by phoning the Club Manager
(024) 563263 during Club hours, Club closed on Mondays. Tuesdays
& Thursdays 09h00 till 17h00, Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays
& Sundays 09h00 till 22h00.
Club moorings are available on a
temporary basis at the following scale of fees:
R200/month up to 8m
R250/month up to 10.4m
R300/month up to 13.6m
Shorter periods will be pro rata.
Visiting yachts are given the first
2 days free thereafter the above scale of fees will apply.
Visiting Foreign yachts are given
the first 4 weeks free, thereafter the above scale of fees will
apply
Port Facilities & Regulations
Paraffin, diesel, electricity and
water are all available in the harbour area and gas can be
obtained approximately 3 kilometres away. Food is available in the
town of Gordon's Bay.
There are no towing arrangements
available. The speed limit in the harbour is 4 knots.
No yachts other than yachts going
to moorings or marinas are allowed to use the fairways between the
lines of moored yachts.
Clearance Formalities
Foreign yachts or yachts wishing to
depart overseas from Gordon's Bay must report to the Harbour
Master and obtain a clearance certificate. Final clearance must
then be arranged through Cape Town. A foreign vessel arriving in
Gordon's Bay must also report to the Harbourmaster first and then
clear through Cape Town within 24 hours.
General Information
The town of Gordon's Bay is
approximately 1 kilometre from the harbour area and restaurants,
banks, the Post Office and public transport area all available
there.
